Working together to fight the sequester, plan the annual conference

Last week more than 50 leaders and staff from 20 National People’s Action affiliates gathered in Washington, D.C. to pray for the souls of House Speaker John Boehner and the other legislative and executive leaders responsible for the sequester, advocate on some of our other economic and racial justice issues, and prepare together for our national conference April 20-22.

Cocktails with the Fix the Debt CEO's

The Fix the Debt CEO’s met in Washington, DC on February 6th to hammer out their latest plans to finance giant tax cuts for corporations by cutting social programs and much-needed investment in infrastructure and job creation.

We didn’t get invited to the meeting, so we had an online cocktail party to tell the Fix the Debt CEO’s to bring their off-shore billions home, where it belongs.

All over the country, NPA affiliates rallied this week to set a people's agenda for their state legislative sessions.

In Minnesota, Take Action Minnesota came out in force to "Put People at the Center" of the state's budget and push for a fair budget, equitable tax restructuring and an insurance exchange that works for the people, not the corporations.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Last night, Congress voted to begin the process of making the wealthy do their part. Both the House and the Senate approved a bill that raises income tax rates on the wealthiest Americans for the first time in decades. It is the dedicated action of everyday Americans fed up with our families bearing the brunt because Wall St. corporations and the wealthiest Americans do not pay their fair share that turned around this decades long drag on our economy. It is a step in the right direction.

Wells Fargo set up a table at an event sponsored by the Mexican consulate's office in Wichita, Kansas to try to recruit new customers. Sunflower set up a table right next to them to tell people the truth about Wells' extensive ties to the private prison industry.
