Weeklong Leadership Training is about you, and your effectiveness in the world.  Some of the most experienced trainers and organizers in the country will ask you to be honest, share with other participants, and reflect on the attitudes and behaviors that are making you less powerful than you could be.

Registration for 2013 Leadership Training is now closed

Please stay tuned for details about next year's trainings.

What did last year’s leaders have to say?

I'm infinitely thankful and liberated after going through Weeklong Training.  It has brought great clarity and a new perspective of myself, my hunger for power, and its link to social change through my organization.

Seeing how invested the trainers and both NPA and IIRON are in our development makes me feel powerful, demands my responsibility, and commits me personally and professionally to pursue power.

--Vanessa Marcano, organizer,
Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement

You will be agitated. You will be uncomfortable. You will question your skills, your language, your experiences, your purpose.

You will be vulnerable in confronting what your life has been, is, and will be.  But it is in this place of vulnerability that you will find what it means for you to be powerful, and what it means to live up to what you were meant to be.

 --Brian Dailey-Arndt, volunteer leader,
TakeAction Minnesota

Are you ready to be powerful?

Some of the most experienced trainers and organizers in the country will ask you to be honest, share with other participants, and reflect on the attitudes and behaviors that are making you less powerful than you could be. At this training, you will:
  • Clarify your ambitions and goals and make a path towards action
  • Learn the skills of community organizing towards justice: team building, effective meetings, strategizing a campaign, direct action, building a base, developing leaders, raising money
  • and much more
Please note: each training participant needs to have a sponsor from an NPA staff or staff or leader of an NPA affiliate organization. You will need the name, organization and best phone number for us to reach your training sponsor before you can register online (of course this can be someone from your own organization).

Staff and volunteer leaders at NPA affiliates, please talk with your Executive Director or Lead Organizer for more information about how to attend the training. You can also direct questions to Pamela Twiss by email or at 651-379-0748.
