NPA: President Obama Puts Crude Election Calculus Ahead of Our Families

Responding to the announcement that President Obama will delay taking administrative action until after the mid-term elections, Mehrdad Azemun, Campaigns Director of National People’s Action, issued the following statement:

“President Obama promised to provide relief for immigrants, but his decision to delay puts a crude and cynical political calculus ahead of our families. We will not be deterred, and we will hold the President and Senate Democrats accountable for this failure. Immigrants are not one more figure in the mid-term election cycle -- they are our mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors. Each delay means more of them are separated from us. Each delay means we expect bolder action to protect them. We will continue to take action and to build political power to ensure our families are kept together.”
