NPA Condemns Politically Motivated Judicial Ruling, Vows to Continue Preparing Leaders to Implement Administrative Relief

Responding to Judge Andrew Hanen’s Injunction in Texas v. United States, National People’s Action Campaign Director Mehrdad Azemun issued the following statement:

“Judge Hanen’s decision to halt President Obama’s administrative relief program, like the lawsuit itself, is a politically motivated ploy to intimidate immigrant families and keep them in the shadows. We are confident that the President’s actions are legal and we know that the President took the right course of action to protect some of the immigrant families who live, work, and contribute to our society. We urge the Fifth Circuit Court to act with due haste to enjoin this injunction so that immigrant families can secure the relief they’ve been promised and that they have earned.”

“As the legal fight goes on, we will continue readying community leaders to help immigrant families secure relief. Right now, in Clarkston, Michigan, we are conducting a three-day training for 30 leaders, so that they are prepared to implement DAPA in their home communities. We will continue doing everything we can to keep immigrant families together.”
